Book freight and print labels

Get live carrier rates for the boxes, book the label, print it and send the tracking — from the Dispatch board or the invoice.

Charging freight vs booking it

  • Add freight… on a quote, sales order or invoice prices the delivery and adds a freight line the customer pays (with your margin). See Freight and shipping setup.
  • Book freight on the Dispatch board books the actual label. A rate taken there is rate only — it never changes what the customer is charged. The order's Freight vs label line shows whether you charged more or less than the label cost.

Book from the Dispatch board

  1. Open the order on Dispatch and go to Ship (or press Book freight).
  2. The Packages come from each product's packed size. A product with no size is pre-filled from your default carton — check it, and tick Save to product so next time it's right.
  3. Options lists live rates from your connected carriers and your own rate tables, cheapest marked. Pick one and press Book this rate (or Send to Interparcel ↗).
  4. Once the order is fully picked, the booking offers Print label & dispatch: the label prints, the goods are dispatched, the stock comes out and the tracking goes to the customer. Otherwise you're asked Label booked — dispatch the goods now? (Dispatch now / Later).

The order then shows ✓ Freight booked with the service and connote. Book another label adds a second consignment.

Each carrier

  • Pack to the Future — book, Print label, track and Cancel booking without leaving BuildTrack; charged to the card saved with Pack. "Booking not confirmed yet" → Check / book again (no double charge).
  • Transdirect — Book with Transdirect, then Print label, Refresh, Cancel.
  • Interparcel — sends the consignment to your Interparcel Shipping Manager, which opens to pay and print. Paste tracking number back afterwards.
  • MachShip, Australia Post (retail), rate tables — rates for pricing; record the tracking with the shipment rail.

Tracking

The tracking rail on the order's Ship tab (and on the invoice) holds every tracking number. Went on a label booked elsewhere? Press + Add tracking, then Send Tracking to email it to the customer. Shopify orders also show Shopify's own tracking.

If something's not right

  • "No origin postcode" — set the ship-from warehouse address in Settings → Shipping & freight.
  • "No carrier returned a rate for this route" — connect a carrier in Integrations → Freight carriers or add a rate table.
  • Can't book: pack verification — the order must go across the pack bench first when that setting is on.
  • "Shopify already shows this order fulfilled" — someone may have shipped it in Shopify; check before booking again.
  • No tracking email — the customer has no email on file, or your "On its way" update is sending it instead.
