Your domain: one setup for email, customer links and portals

Type your business's domain once in Settings → Your domain. Your emails then come from it, and quote, invoice, payment and job-ready links plus your customer and dealer portals open on your own web address.

Where it is

Settings for this

Settings → Your domain (under Customer-facing) is the one place you connect your domain. It sets up two things at once:

  • Email: quotes, invoices, reminders and marketing come from @yourbusiness.com.au. See Send email from your own domain.
  • Web address: one subdomain such as go.yourbusiness.com.au carries every customer link (quote, invoice, payment, job-ready, in emails and texts), your customer portal (at /portal) and your dealer portal.

Your main website and your inbox aren't touched.

Connect it

  1. Go to Settings → Your domain.
  2. Under Connect your domain, type Your domain (for example yourbusiness.com.au).
  3. Under Web address for links and portals, keep go (or portal if you run a dealer portal) or type another word.
  4. Press Connect. One list of DNS records appears for both parts.
  5. Add them where you manage DNS. See Send email from your own domain for how.
  6. Leave the page open: it checks every 30 seconds. Check now checks straight away.

What the statuses mean

  • Email: Verified, Waiting for DNS, or Not set up.
  • Web address: Live, Waiting for DNS, Securing (HTTPS) (DNS is right; the certificate is being issued), Needs attention (an error shows under it), or Not set up.

Once the web address is Live, links in customer texts are short branded links (go.yourbusiness.com.au/s/…), so a quote text fits in one SMS.

Dealer and retail addresses

If you only have a dealer address (dealers.yourbusiness.com.au), retail customers see it in their quote and payment links. The page offers to give them their own address: type the word (default go) and press Connect, then add its one record.

Turn it off

At the bottom: Stop sending from @yourbusiness.com.au (email goes back to BuildTrack's address with your business name) or Disconnect the web address (links and portals move back to BuildTrack's address straight away, and links already sent on it stop working).

If something's not right

  • Connect is greyed out: check the domain is typed correctly, or you need Settings edit ("Ask an admin to set this up").
  • Stuck on Waiting for DNS: see why a domain won't verify.
  • "Emailed sign-in links still open on the BuildTrack address": password sign-in works on your address already; magic-link emails catch up once the address finishes its last step. Opening this page re-checks it.
