Send an email or SMS campaign
Pick a list or segment, write the email or text, choose when it goes, check the preflight and send or schedule. You can test, unschedule or stop it.
Where it is
Settings for this
- Settings → Your domain — Emails come from your own domain once it verifies; until then from BuildTrack's address with your business name.
- Marketing → Content → Brand kit — Default from name and reply-to, and the physical address and footer on every marketing email.
- Marketing → Content → Email templates — An email campaign takes its layout from a template.
- Integrations → Inbox, SMS & phone — The SMS number your texts come from.
Campaigns are part of the Marketing add-on.
Before you start
- Have an audience: a list or a segment in Audiences. See Lists, segments and suppressions.
- For email, have a template in Content → Email templates. See Email templates, blocks and images.
Steps
- Go to Marketing → Campaigns and press New campaign. It saves as a draft as you go; Save draft & exit leaves it for later.
- Recipients: give it a Campaign name, pick the Channel (Email or SMS), choose the Audience and, if you like, a list to Exclude. The Estimate shows how many are in the audience. A segment is worked out again just before it sends.
- Content:
- Email: Pick a template, then the Subject, Preview text, From name and From email. Tick Test a second subject line to send Subject B to a random half and compare opens afterwards.
- SMS: write the Message. Keep it to one or two 160-character parts; each part is charged.
- Personalise with tags like {{first_name}}. Job tags (such as {{job_title}}) only work inside an automation, not a campaign.
- Settings: Send now or Schedule (date and time, in your device's time zone). Tick Respect quiet hours to hold messages that would land overnight (default 9 pm to 8 am) until the window ends.
- Review: read the Preflight. Red items block sending; amber items are warnings you can send past. Press Send test to email up to 5 addresses a copy with [TEST] in the subject.
- Press Send now or Schedule campaign and confirm.
After it sends
Open the campaign from the list to see sent, delivered, opened, clicked and bounced, the subject test result, and a timeline.
- Unschedule & edit: a scheduled campaign goes back to draft.
- Stop sending: for a scheduled or sending campaign. Nobody else gets it; what has gone stays sent. A stopped campaign can't restart, but Duplicate makes a copy.
- Delete removes it and its send records (Overview revenue drops with it).
The Calendar shows scheduled and sent campaigns by date.
Who gets it
The real number is the audience minus anyone suppressed (unsubscribed, bounced, complained, blocked), anyone without consent for that channel, anyone with no email or mobile, and the exclude list. See Consent, unsubscribes and suppressions.
If something's not right
- Send now is greyed out: a preflight item failed. Common ones: no audience chosen, no subject, the template has no blocks, a scheduled time in the past, or a job-only tag in a campaign.
- "No verified sender domain" (amber): it still sends, from BuildTrack's shared address with your business name, and replies go to your From email or brand kit reply-to. For the best inbox placement, send from your own domain.
- "Unsubscribe link" warning: add {{unsubscribe_link}} to the template's footer block. Commercial email must have an easy opt-out.
- Push campaigns aren't available yet; use Email or SMS.
- Audience shows 0: a list only holds who you add; a segment needs at least one rule and refreshes every 15 minutes.
