A vehicle’s record: owners, warranty and compliance

Every vehicle has its own record that outlives any one owner: service history, who has owned it, the warranties it carries and claims made, and the approvals it was built under.

Where it is

Settings for this

A vehicle lives on its owner's contact page. Its record is the history that stays with the car when it changes hands.

Open it

  • From a contact or company: open the vehicle and follow the record link.
  • From a workshop job: the record link under the vehicle on the left.
  • On a stock unit, the same sections sit in the centre of the page.

What's on it

  • Service history: jobs, inspections, invoices and logged services, newest first. Filter by kind; click one to open it.
  • Ownership: Current owner and Original owner, and every owner in between. Transfer ownership moves it to a new contact (or company) from a date; + Past owner fills in history. Complete sale on a vehicle sale transfers it for you.
  • Warranty: + Add warranty with its type, dates and terms, and attach the warranty document. An Under warranty chip shows while one is in force. Void warranty needs a reason.
  • Warranty claims: + New claim against a warranty (or raise one from a workshop job). Amounts show only to people who can see costs.
  • Compliance & approvals: + Add record for an AVV approval, second-stage manufacturer approval, VSB certification, compliance plate, RAV entry, roadworthy certificate, pre-delivery inspection, GVM upgrade or other, with its reference.

For the engineer's details and photos that travel with a GVM plate order, see Vehicle approval packs.
