Trading hours, shutdowns and public holidays
Set the days and hours the shop is open, add shutdowns, and let BuildTrack add your state’s public holidays. They drive the workshop scheduler, booking links, Find a time, leave costs and holiday pay bands.
Where it is
Settings for this
- Settings → Workshop → Trading Hours — Opening hours, closures, and Add public holidays automatically (owners and admins)
- Settings → Modules & flow — Settings → Workshop (and so Trading Hours) only shows while the Workshop module is on
Open Settings → Workshop → Trading Hours (Settings, Workshop under "How you work", then the Trading Hours tab).
Step by step: opening hours
- Tick each day you open and set its opening and closing time.
- Press Save Hours. (It stays grey while a closing time is before its opening time.)
Opening hours drive the workshop scheduler, capacity and AI dispatch, booking links set to the shop's hours, and Find a time. Closed days are never bookable.
Step by step: public holidays
- Under the public holidays card, pick your state or territory. Where your state has regional days (such as a show day, or Tasmania's Regatta or Recreation Day), pick your area too.
- Tick Add public holidays automatically and press Save. It says how many were added.
- The next 12 months appear under Closures tagged Public holiday · auto. The year ahead is topped up each month; Check now looks straight away.
Remove any that don't apply to you and they won't be added again (Add back restores one). Turning it off stops new ones; the ones already added stay until you remove them.
Step by step: a shutdown or one-off closure
- Under Closures, type a Name (such as "Christmas shutdown"), the first and last day.
- Tick Public holiday only for a real public holiday.
- Press + Add.
Why "Public holiday" matters
The whole shop is unbookable on every closure. A closure ticked Public holiday also:
- puts hours worked that day in the holiday band on Timesheets (see Hours & overtime);
- costs nothing when it falls inside someone's leave.
A shutdown day is neither. Christmas inside a shutdown still counts as a holiday when it's added as one.
Who can do it
Owners and admins change trading hours and public holidays. Everyone else sees them read-only ("Only an owner or admin can change this").
If something's not right
- No Workshop in Settings? The Workshop module is off. Turn it on in Settings → Modules & flow. Until trading hours are set, the scheduler assumes Monday–Friday, 8 to 5.
- A holiday you don't take keeps appearing? Remove it from Closures; it won't come back.
