The floor terminal: start, pause, finish and QC each step from a tablet
Operators work from Manufacturing → Floor, or a shared tablet at /app/kiosk/floor: the queue for their work centre, Start to clock on, quantities made and scrapped, Finish, QC sign-off, and a scan of the traveller’s step barcode to jump to a step.
Where it is
- Manufacturing → Floor — Signed in as yourself
- Shared tablet — Full screen; operators pick their name and enter their time-clock PIN
- Manufacturing → Orders — Release an order and its steps appear on the floor
Settings for this
- Settings → Workshop → Work Centres — The tabs on the floor are your work centres
- People → Workers — Set each operator’s time-clock PIN for the shared tablet
Every step of a released order is a task on the order's job, and clocking on it is the same clocking the workshop uses. The floor terminal is that, laid out for a tablet in a noisy shop: big cards, one tap to start, one to finish.
The queue
Each card is one step of one order: the order number, the step, the product and quantity, the work centre, what is running and who is on it. Tabs across the top are your work centres, with a dot on the ones with a timer running. Steps are ordered by due date; a step whose earlier step isn't finished says so and can't be started yet, and one waiting on outside work (a coating sent out, say) waits until the order marks it back.
Working a step
- Start clocks you on. One timer per person: starting here stops anything you had running elsewhere. The order moves to in progress.
- Pause clocks you off this step. Start again when you're back.
- Quantities adds what you've just made and scrapped, with a note if you like. You can't record more made than the order planned.
- Finish step stops every timer on the step, marks it done with its hours (what was clocked, or the estimate when nobody clocked), and, when nothing was recorded along the way, counts the whole run as made.
- QC sign-off appears on a finished step that needs it: Pass, or Fail with a note. Reopening a step voids its earlier pass, as it always has.
- Reopen puts a finished step back in progress if it was finished by mistake.
Scanning
Every step on the printed traveller carries a barcode. Scan it (or type the order number) in the box at the top and the terminal jumps to that step. A barcode scanner that types like a keyboard needs no setting up.
The shared tablet
Open /app/kiosk/floor on the tablet (or Open as a shared tablet from the Floor page) while signed in to BuildTrack. Operators tap Who are you?, pick their name and enter their time-clock PIN; the PIN is checked on every action, with the time clock's lockout after wrong tries. After five quiet minutes the tablet forgets who was working. Someone without a PIN can only be picked when the tablet's own account may manage technicians' time.
