Manufacturing work centres: capacity and rates
Work centres are the areas of your shop a routing runs through. Each has a capacity, a labour rate and an overhead rate, so every build is timed and costed.
Where it is
Settings for this
- Settings → Workshop → Work Centres — “Use work centres” switches them on for the whole business.
- Work centres must be on for your business: Settings → Workshop → Work Centres, tick Use work centres. The Manufacturing page says so when they are off.
- Open Manufacturing → Work centres and press Add work centre: cutting, welding, assembly, paint.
- Set its Capacity (how many jobs it takes at once) and Labour rate, then its Overhead rate per hour in the table.
- Mark a centre inactive when you stop using it.
Each routing step on a BOM names its work centre, so its time is costed at that centre's rates. The same work centres are used by the workshop (bays, jobs and tasks can be assigned to them).
Who can do it
Changing work centres needs Create and edit BOMs; raise changes. The labour and overhead rate columns show only to people with See cost of goods (COGS).
