Scheduling: priority, booked steps and each work centre’s queue

An order’s priority runs it first; Find a time books each step on its work centre for real days; Manufacturing → Schedule shows each centre’s queue in the order it will run and lets the planner move steps.

Priority

Every order has a priority, Low, Medium, High or Urgent (Edit on the order). Urgent and High run first on the floor and on the Schedule board; the order's workshop job shows the same priority on the workshop board.

Steps follow the routing

When an order is released, its steps become tasks on the job in the routing's order, each set to start after the one before it. The floor won't start a step until the earlier in-house step is finished, and won't start one whose outside work (a coating sent out) hasn't come back.

Booking the steps: Find a time

On a released order, Edit → Find a time places each step into its work centre's free hours, day by day, from the date you pick, counting what is already booked on each centre. Save then books every step on its centre for those days, the job spans them on the workshop calendar, and the order's planned start follows. A draft order's Find a time still only sets the planned start and due date; book it once it is released.

The Schedule board

Manufacturing → Schedule shows one tab per work centre and that centre's open steps in the order they will run: Urgent first, then your own order, then due date. Move a step up, down or to the top and the floor terminal follows. Back to priority and due date clears your order for that centre. Steps that must wait on an earlier step of their own order still wait, wherever they sit; the board orders, Find a time books.
