Manufacturing

BOMs, work centres, manufacturing orders and planning.

  • Manufacturing: what it does and where to start — The Manufacturing add-on: versioned BOMs with routings and approved changes, manufacturing orders that run as workshop jobs, planning, travellers and real build costs.
  • Manufacturing work centres: capacity and rates — Work centres are the areas of your shop a routing runs through. Each has a capacity, a labour rate and an overhead rate, so every build is timed and costed.
  • BOMs, routings and change requests — A BOM lists what one product is built from and the routing steps to build it, revision by revision. A released revision is locked; changes go through a change request and, if you require it, approval.
  • Manufacturing orders: release, build, finish — A manufacturing order builds one product from its released BOM. Releasing it creates the workshop job; you issue materials, send out outside work, sign off QC, record output and close it. Its real cost lands on what it makes.
  • Planning, make from sales order, and make to order — Planning works out what to make and buy, and when, from open sales orders, open manufacturing orders and reorder points. Make from sales order lists sold lines not yet in production; Make to order on the line starts the order.
  • Manufacturing settings: BOM change approval — Decide whether a released BOM can only change through an approved change request, and whether people may approve their own.
