Linking products to Shopify
A product syncs only once it is linked to a Shopify variant. Link by SKU, send new listings, or bring Shopify listings in.
Where it is
- Shopify → Catalogue → Linked products
- Shopify → Catalogue → Send to Shopify
- Shopify → Catalogue → Bring in
Settings for this
- Shopify → Settings — Tax setting used to back GST out of imported prices
Stock and price only flow for a product that is linked to a Shopify variant. Linking is by exact SKU.
Linked products
Catalogue → Linked products lists every link and its state (Matched, Suggested, Unmatched, Ignored).
- Match by SKU links everything with an exact match on both sides.
- Shared SKUs: when one SKU sits on several Shopify variants, the BuildTrack product is linked to all of them, so stock and price reach every one.
- AI-suggest unmatched proposes links for the leftovers. Approve or Ignore each, or tick several and press Approve selected.
- Pull content brings Shopify images and descriptions onto linked products.
- Push images sends your supplier images to linked products that have no image on Shopify yet.
Send to Shopify
Catalogue → Send to Shopify creates listings for products that don't have one.
- Choose Create as Draft (the default) or Create as Active.
- Tick products and press Queue selected, or Queue all unsynced.
- The server sends the queue every five minutes, so you can close the page. Drain now sends it straight away; Retry failed tries failures again.
Brand and category become the Shopify vendor, product type and tags. A product whose SKU already exists in Shopify is linked, not duplicated.
Bring in
Catalogue → Bring in is the reverse: Shopify listings that don't exist here become BuildTrack products, with images and descriptions. Vendor becomes the brand and product type the category; the supplier is left blank. Prices have GST backed out according to your tax setting, so check Shopify channel settings first.
Stock is not imported unless you tick Seed on-hand stock from Shopify quantities (first-time import only). BuildTrack is the source of truth, not Shopify. Press Refresh preview, then Import N new products.
Sizes and finishes (variants)
A Shopify product with several variants becomes a variant family here: one BuildTrack product per variant, each with its own SKU, price and stock, grouped under the first with the option values kept (Size: 17x8.5). Listings already linked before families existed are grouped by the daily sync, or straight away with Group N listings into families on the Already here, not yet grouped card under Bring in.
Going the other way, publishing any product in a family sends the whole family as one listing with a variant per member; a product pushed later joins the family's listing as a new variant. To list one size on its own, Detach it from the family on the product page first.
If something's not right
- "Duplicate SKU blocked a new listing": every Shopify variant with that SKU is already linked to other products. Give the new product its own SKU, or fix the duplicates in Shopify.
- A product isn't syncing: search it on Linked products. If it's Unmatched, its SKU isn't on Shopify exactly as typed here.
- Products, images and prices need Edit products to push; matching and importing need Edit settings.
