6. The shared tablet, your PIN and the TV
On the shared tablet you tap Who are you?, pick your name and enter your time-clock PIN; every Start, Pause and Finish is then yours. After five quiet minutes the tablet forgets you. The Production TV shows the whole shop what is running.
Where it is
Settings for this
- People → Workers — A manager sets each operator’s time-clock PIN here
Who this is for: everyone who uses the tablet by the machine rather than their own phone.
Who are you?
The tablet is signed in once, as the shop. Before you can press Start you press Who are you? at the top, tap your name and enter your time-clock PIN, the same PIN you use at the time clock. The header then says Working as you, and every Start, Pause, Quantities, Finish and QC sign-off is recorded in your name, with your PIN checked each time.
- No PIN yet? The tablet says so: ask a manager to set one under People → Workers. Until then the step can't be started from the tablet.
- Wrong PIN too many times locks you out for a while, as at the time clock.
It forgets you
After five minutes with nobody touching the tablet, it forgets who was picked, so the next person can't act in your name. Your running timer keeps running: pause or finish before you walk away.
Switching people
Press your name in the header and pick the next person. Your paused or running steps stay as they are.
The Production TV
On the wall screen (Production TV), the whole shop sees every open order with its steps, who is on what, how many units are through, the hours queued on each work centre and the orders that are late. Nothing you do on the tablet is private: that is the point of it, and why the counts in lesson 3 matter.
Finishing the course
That is the floor terminal. Read every lesson for Bronze, pass the quiz for Silver, and finish steps on real orders for Gold: the Academy counts the steps you clocked on and finished.
