1. Your work centre’s queue

Manufacturing → Floor shows the steps waiting on each work centre as big cards, in the order the planner wants them run. Start here: what a card says and what its colour means.

Where it is

Who this is for: everyone who makes things on the floor: operators, fabricators, welders, finishers, apprentices. Lesson 6 is about the shared tablet.

Every step of a released manufacturing order is a task on that order's workshop job, and the floor terminal lays those tasks out for a noisy shop: big cards, one tap to start, one to finish.

Where it is

  • Manufacturing → Floor when you are signed in on your own phone or a computer. Everything you do is in your name.
  • The shared tablet (Open as a shared tablet, or /app/kiosk/floor on the tablet by the machine): full screen, and you tap your name first (lesson 6).

A card

Each card is one step of one order: the order number, the product and how many, the step's name and its work centre, the standard time the routing gives it, and a progress bar of how many units are through. The chip in the corner says where it is:

ChipMeaning
ReadyNothing is holding it. Start it.
RunningSomeone is clocked onto it now; their name is on the card.
PausedIt was started and stopped; the units so far are kept.
Waiting on earlier stepThe step before it in the routing isn't finished. The card says Finish … first.
Waiting on outside workAn earlier step is with a contractor (powder coating, plating) and isn't back yet.
Needs QCThe step is finished but a QC sign-off is still owed (lesson 4).
FinishedDone. It stays on the board for the rest of the shift, then drops off.

The order of the cards

Running steps first, then paused, then ready, then the ones waiting; finished last. Within that, the planner's order: Urgent and High orders first, then the order the planner set on the Schedule board, then due date. You don't have to work out what to do next: take the first Ready card on your centre's tab.

Picking your work centre

Tap your centre's tab and leave it there. The All tab is for a leading hand looking across the shop.
