2. Clocking on for your shift

Clock on when you arrive and off when you leave: at the tablet by the door with your PIN, or on your own phone in My time or the Clock card on Home.

All three write the same shift. The time is stamped by BuildTrack, not by your device.

At the time clock

A manager opens it once from People › Timesheets › Open time clock and leaves the tablet by the door.

  1. On Tap your name, tap your tile (or type in Find your name). A green tile says On since 7:02 am.
  2. Check the action at the top: Clock on, Clock off or Confirm week. It picks the likely one; tap another if it's wrong.
  3. Clocking off? Choose Unpaid break taken: None, 15m, 30m, 45m or 60m. Once a shift has run five hours it starts on the business's usual break; before that it starts on None.
  4. Enter your PIN (4 to 6 digits) and press the big Clock on or Clock off button.
  5. You'll see Morning, Sam and the time, or See you, Sam and the hours worked. The screen clears itself for the next person, or press Done.
Badge: if you have one, scan it on the names screen. It clocks you on, or off if you're on.
  • No PIN yet on your tile means you can't use the tablet until you have one. Set it in My time › Kiosk PIN, or ask a manager (lesson 6).
  • Five wrong tries lock your PIN for a few minutes. Setting a new PIN unlocks it.
  • Exit is for managers. Leave the time clock asks for a manager's own kiosk PIN (an owner, an admin or someone who can correct shifts), then Unlock. Use this account’s password instead works too, with the password of the account the tablet is signed in as.
  • The tablet never records anyone's location.

In My time

Open your avatar (top right) and choose My time. The sections are Today, Hours, Roster, Leave and PIN.

  1. Today shows whether you're rostered today, and your shift timer.
  2. Press Clock on. The timer runs and says On shift since 7:02am.
  3. To finish, pick Unpaid break taken, then press Clock off · 30m break (or just Clock off for no break).
  4. Kiosk PIN: type 4 to 6 digits in New PIN and Type it again, then press Set PIN. To change it later, press Change PIN, then Save new PIN.

If My time says You’re not set up on the time clock yet, the Clock card on Home sets you up the first time you clock on with it, or ask your manager to add you.

On Home: the Clock card

The Clock card has your shift timer, the Break choices, and Clock on / Clock off. Below it is any job timer you have running, with Stop job timer. My week → opens My time.

What happens by itself

  • Not clocked on yet? If your terms say you must clock on, you get You haven't clocked on soon after your rostered start (30 minutes unless your business changed it). Managers hear too. It doesn't happen on approved leave or on days the business is closed.
  • Still on an hour after your rostered finish? You get Still clocked on?
  • A shift is never closed for you. Left running, it turns red: Still on since … forgot to clock off? Lesson 5 covers fixing it.
  • Location: if your business records it, My time and the Clock card say so when you clock on from your phone.
  • On leave today? My time says You’re on leave today. If you come in anyway, clock on; your manager sees both.

Where it ends

You clock off. The shift sits on your week as Unconfirmed until you confirm it (lesson 3).

Lesson 2 of 7 in Clocking on: shifts and jobs. Previous: 1. Two clocks: your shift and your jobs. Next: 3. Confirming your week.
